no pants November

Good morning everyone.  Today I wanted to introduce a new feature on my blog called No Pants November.  I'm challenging myself to only wear skirts or dresses for the month of November.  Why?  Well, why not?  Personally, I find real pants (other than those for yoga) to be very uncomfortable.  Why would I choose to wear something uncomfortable like pants when I have soooo many skirts and dresses I could be wearing instead?  Dresses and skirts make me feel more free since they are far less restricting.

Here are my challenge "rules":

  1. Anytime I leave my house I will wear a dress or skirt instead of pants (with the exception of work because pants are required for my uniform).
  2. I will continue to wear pants at home since I don't want to ruin any of my skirts with soot from the fireplace or cleaners or food, etc.
  3. Repeat outfits are discouraged, considering how I have so many skirts.
  4. Challenge will commence on November 1 and finish on November 30.
I'll be posting my outfits with the tag #NoPantsNovember on Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter and I'd love for you to join me in this challenge!  If you have a blog feel free to use the badge below to link up with me and be sure to post your outfit links in the comments section.

I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with and challenging myself to create interesting outfits.

15 pieces/6 weeks of outfits(week 4)

The casual outfit combos are back!  I kinda forgot I was spacing the posts out and still had 3 more weeks worth of clothing to show you...ooops!

But here are the outfits for week 3, using just 15 basic items you probably have in your closet.  For this week I used 2 long sleeved tops, 1 tee shirt, a cardigan, cropped sweater and plaid shirt.  I paired them with jeans, skirts and a dress (striped red dress) and added either a belt or scarf for visual interest.

Here are the outfits for week 1, week 2 and week 3. And heeeeere is the link to my Etsy shop where I sell the scarves I make.

The striped top and maxi skirt combo are probably my favourite of all the outfits.  I've worn a variation of it so many times already!  I like it because I can layer without looking frumpy.  For example, I wore thick thermal leggings under the skirt, a tank top under my shirt and a cardigan over that.  I belted the skirt at the smallest part of my waist to add some definition and pull everything together.   The boots I wore are knee high which provides even more warmth.

We are almost done with this outfit series so now I'd like to know if you prefer to see more casual or dressy outfits.  Are there specific occasions you want to see ideas for (work holiday party, date night, going for errands, hiking, etc...)?

Let me know in the comments or on Facebook!

second anniversary

Two years ago David and I said our "I dos" and became husband and wife.  It was the best day of my life!  I chose to walk down the aisle to this Matthew West song because of it's lyrics.  They are so simple, but so powerful.

WARNING: this post contains many wedding photos:) If you do not enjoy looking at wedding photos you may leave now.  If you have never seen any photos from our wedding (new readers, I'm talking to you!) I hope you'll scroll through because my our wedding was awesome!  Sometimes it's hard to capture the essence of a wedding but our photographers (Jenn Austin-Driver Photography) were amazing.

Some details about our wedding:  it took place at my childhood church, the pictures were taken at the college we both went to and the reception was in an old barn turned dinner theatre.

this photo is taken in the exact spot we met in September 2008.

Our first dance was to this Lifehouse song.

This Warren Barfield song was sung during the signing of our marriage paperwork.  I chose to post the link here, at the end of my post, because the lyrics to this song are very thought provoking.

I hope you enjoyed peeking at our wedding photos:)

weekend recap: October 18-19

Sorry for the delay in posting my weekend recap. I worked all day yesterday and by the time I got home after 7 PM I just wanted to relax.

On Saturday I worked both jobs while David did some little projects around the house.  We are having some people over next weekend, which means we want the house to look awesome.  And that means finishing projects, cleaning up the extra bedrooms which usually act as  storage/mess rooms.  One of the tasks needing completion is the bathroom wall tile.  When we started out bathroom reno (more here) to replace burst pipes we decided to get a new tub and shower since ours were old and gross.  The old tub had been put in place then the walls were tiled around it, so to remove the tub David had to remove some tile.  I decided to paint the existing tiles from blue to off white, but the new tiles are a different shade of white...so I'll be doing some more tile painting this week!

Sunday was my day off work (yay!) so my mom and I went out for some belated birthday shopping (even though my birthday was like, 6 weeks ago!).  We were both supposed to get manicures at the same time but one of the estheticians called in sick, so my mom opted out of a later slot and let me have our current appointment.   We were given 20% off my manicure and 20% off my mom's next one too, which was great:)  I chose a festive, pumpkin orange colour for my nails.

We went shopping afterwards and I got the prettiest sweater I've seen in a  long time.  It's got a big bow in the back!!  The fabric is so soft and the bow is the perfect touch.  The sweater also came in black and bubblegum pink, which I really wanted but it didn't come in my size.

It's been raining here all weekend and the temps have dropped to seasonal averages now, but it just feels so much colder because summer was hanging on!  Personally, I'd prefer cooler weather in the fall instead of summer temps.

How was your weekend?  Is the weather being crazy where you live?  There has been talk of snow here soon!
